Hamid Baroudi, for the first time in his life on stage when he was age 13; in the year 1980 he was the winner of the munich talent competition and after that he was 6 years the frontman of the succesful german band "DISSIDENTEN", which took him on tour through Spain, Skandinavia, Canada, USA and North-Africa. Through this period, they also recorded 4 albums. In Paris he was working with CHEB KHALED and MAMI, in 1991 he was on stage with big german names like Grönemeyer, W. Maahn and K. Lage in front of 200.000 people on a festival in Bonn, which was oranized against the Gulf war. 1992/93 he had a No. 1 hit in Algeria with "Caravan to Baghdad" and a show in Algiers in front of 70.000 People. In 1993 he received the "Kulturförderpreis" for his intercultural activities from the DOCUMENTA-city Kassel, which is also his adopted country. One year of touring through Germany and Austria followed. After that, he started his recordings with international line-up for the album "City No Mad" (released in Germany by Vielklang, in France by Chrysalis / EMI and for the rest of Europe by Barraka Prod).- trancelike rhythms with afro-american grooves and pop, mixed up with elements of his northafrican home. In 94 / 95: touring around Europe incl. WOMAD UK, SPINX Belgium, Germany, Netherlands, France, Austria, Switzerland etc.
